Competitive golf for players over 35 and 55 — because the best golf happens with experience.
The IGU recognises that competitive golf is a lifelong pursuit. The Seniors & Mid-Amateur categories provide dedicated tournament structures for experienced golfers who continue to compete at a high level well beyond their junior and open amateur years.
These categories celebrate the depth of India's golfing community — players who bring decades of experience, course knowledge, and competitive spirit to every event. From regional qualifiers to national championships and international team selection, the IGU ensures that age-category golfers have access to meaningful, well-organised competition.
Two dedicated competitive tiers for experienced amateur golfers.
Open to amateur golfers aged 35 and above. The Mid-Amateur category features regional and national championships designed for players who balance competitive golf with professional careers. Events include zonal qualifiers and the IGU Mid-Amateur National Championship, with top performers considered for international team selection at events such as the Asian Mid-Amateur Championship.
Open to amateur golfers aged 55 and above. The Senior Amateur category is one of the most popular competitive segments in Indian golf, with strong participation across all regions. The annual IGU Senior Amateur Championship is a highlight of the calendar, and top-ranked seniors represent India at international events including the Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship.
