EWS Programmes

Livelihood creation for economically weaker sections — transforming caddy children's lives through golf-based career development.

About EWS Programmes

IGU's EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) Programmes are dedicated to creating sustainable livelihoods for caddy children and their families at golf clubs across India. These young people grow up on the fringes of the sport — carrying bags, watching from the sidelines — yet possess an intimate understanding of the game and its environment. IGU's programmes channel this proximity into structured training, education, and career placement, transforming potential into profession. All EWS programmes are fully compliant with Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013, making them eligible for corporate CSR funding.

Programme Components

A three-pillar approach to EWS livelihood creation through golf.

Caddy Welfare

Health, nutrition, and education support for caddy families at affiliated clubs. IGU provides comprehensive welfare services that address the fundamental needs of caddy communities, ensuring children have the stability required to pursue development opportunities.

Vocational Training

Skills development in course management, fitness, hospitality, and coaching. Structured vocational programmes equip caddy children with professional skills that translate directly into employment within India's golf industry and broader hospitality sector.

Career Placement

Job placement support at clubs, tournaments, and golf industry employers. IGU works with its network of affiliated clubs and industry partners to connect trained EWS graduates with meaningful employment opportunities across the golf ecosystem.

CSR Compliance

All IGU EWS programmes qualify under Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013. IGU is registered under Section 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, ensuring that corporate partners receive full tax benefits and compliance documentation. Quarterly impact reports, beneficiary tracking, and utilisation certificates are provided as standard.
